If you love Lenovo notebooks, the Chinese tech giant has a lot in store for you in 2015. The company has announced at CES this week several upgrades to its line of ThinkPad laptops, starting with the new edition of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon.
The X1 Carbon has been around for a couple of years, and this third-generation upgrade doesn't disappoint. It is slimmer, lighter, faster and brighter, thus keeping its spot as one of the top laptops for business users.

Design and display
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon offers ultimate portability that's fit for any business user. Featuring a 14-inch display and weighing less than 3 lbs., the X1 Carbon is one of the lightest full-screen notebooks available.
It also keeps its rugged body that Lenovo is known for, but now features a slimmer chassis. Like past X1 Carbons, the new version comes either with or without a touch screen, and you'll have a choice of either the full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) or the brighter WQHD 2560 x 1440p display.
Keyboard
Clickable trackpads are all the rage, but it's back to basics for Lenovo. The X1 Carbon has done away with the clickable trackpad, bringing back the familiar three-button TrackPoint clickpad.
In addition, Lenovo has removed the Function keys on the top of the keyboard and placed them back in their standard F1-F12 positions, reminiscent of traditional ThinkPads.
Power and performance
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon won't let serious business users down when it comes to power and performance. Equipped with Intel's fifth-generation Broadwell processor and an 80 percent faster solid-state drive, the X1 Carbon can keep up with even the most demanding apps and business users.
Lenovo has also upgraded the X1 Carbon's battery life, giving it a 10 percent improvement. Although this means it now uses a larger battery, users won't even feel it — the 50-watt battery offers even more juice on a single charge but doesn't add any bulk or weight to the device.
Cost and availability
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon comes out this month, starting at $1,249.
