Sleek, portable design
Dubbed "the Android version of the iPad Air," the lightweight Nexus 9 features a slim build that Google describes as "small enough to carry around in one hand" and "light and comfortable for work or play." It comes with an 8.9-inch, 2048 x 1536-pixel IPS LCD display and sports brushed metal sides to make the device sleek and sturdy.
Powerful performance
If you demand a lot from your business tablet, the Nexus 9 has you covered. Powered by the 2.3 GHz 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 and 192-core Kepler processors, this tablet is built with the power and performance of a desktop. It also comes with 2GB of RAM, and you can choose from either 16GB of 32GB of memory.
That means you can easily run many apps at once and move between them with fluidity. Whether you're browsing the Web, checking email, working on documents or watching videos, the Nexus 9 won't hinder your productivity by slowing down performance. Made for productivity
Google made the Nexus 9 with productivity in mind. First, it runs on the just-released Android 5.0 Lollipop, a more seamless, more secure mobile operating system. One feature business users will love is better multitasking across apps and across devices — for instance, you can work on your Nexus smartphone and then continue working on the Nexus 9, right from where you left off.
With Lollipop, the Nexus 9 also features Android Smart Lock, a security feature that lets you unlock the tablet with a smartwatch, car or facial expressions.
And if you hate typing on a tablet, don’t worry. Google announced that there will be a new detachable, magnetic keyboard, which turns the tablet into a notebook and allows you to type at two different angles. Google says this will help you "get stuff done at home, at the office and on the go." The keyboard will be sold separately, however, and will set you back $130.
Cost and availability
The Nexus 9 will be available beginning Nov. 3, and will come in three colors: white, black and tan. It will cost $399 for the 16GB model and $479 for the 32GB edition. A $599 LTE-enabled 32GB model will also be available. Preorders begin Oct. 17.
