Lenovo Yoga Tablet 10 HD+: Is It Good for Business?

Lenovo's new business tablet offers long endurance and a handy kickstand. The Yoga Tablet 10 HD+ sports the same built-in kickstand as other tablets in the line, but with a sharper display, longer battery life and new multitasking software that lets you run up to four apps at once. The $349 Android slate makes a few concessions, with slightly underwhelming performance and a display that can't match the brightness or color range of competing machines. Still, it packs enough productivity-boosting perks to make it good for work. Kickstand

For users who want to be truly productive on their tablet, a physical keyboard is almost mandatory. But most tablets lack a mechanism to prop themselves up while you type, forcing you to invest in a bulky folio case that includes a kickstand. The Yoga Tablet 10 HD+ meets that issue head on with an integrated kickstand that folds out from the cylindrical battery, which runs along one side of the device. Just snap out the kickstand to prop the device up, then wirelessly connect a Bluetooth keyboard to get down to work. Even when the kickstand is not extended, the battery just slightly props up one end of the device when it is laid flat on a table. That gives you a better angle for viewing the display, and puts the device at a decent position for typing on its touchscreen keyboard – especially in close quarters, such as when you're using the tablet on an airplane tray table.

Multitasking software

One feature that has helped PCs win out over tablets as productivity machines is their ability to run multiple apps on-screen at once. Now Lenovo is joining the group of Android tablet makers packing in special multitasking software that lets you run up to four apps at once in a split-screen view. Just tap the app-switching button at the bottom of the tablet's interface to pull up a thumbnail list of compatible apps, then start dragging apps onto your screen. The apps take up an equal amount of space by default, but you can alter the size of the windows by dragging the border between them. That opens up new possibilities for multitasking; for example, it lets you browse the web or use the calculator app while managing your email inbox.

Long battery life

The cylindrical battery bar on the Yoga Tablet 10 HD+ can feel a bit bulky when holding the device in certain positions, but you won't mind when you realize how long the device lasts. The large battery lets the tablet run for an amazing 13 hours on a single charge; far longer than the 8 hour and 20 minute average for similar tablets. That makes this slate a dependable device that will last through the workday and beyond.
