28th September 2016, PEA celebrates its 56th anniversary with Mr. Sermsakool Klaikaew, Governor of the Provincial Electricity Authority, disclosed the following.

"Throughout its 56 years of operation, PEA has committed to the provision of electricity supply with efficiency, coupled with consistent development of the enterprise and responsibility for both society and environment. We have striven to meet customer satisfaction both in quality and services. Presently, PEA serves 74 provinces, excluding Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan. The authority runs over 900 offices nationwide. PEA has 540 power stations and a distribution system to provide approximately 300,000 high voltage circuits/kilometre to support around 18.44 million customers, with total peak power demand at 20438.91 MW. The turnover of PEA's business in the first seven months of 2016 earned a net profit of 15,000 million baht which is expected to rise to 20,400 million baht by the end of this year."

PEA has set its next step to become The Electric Utility of the Future by implementing the policy, "Development of human resources through innovation and operational performance through technology." Aiming to respond to the digital age, PEA is progressing to become an organization driven by technology, creativity, innovation and new businesses.

The agency is determined to offer the excellence of its standardised service and reliable electricity supply through modern and stable distribution system to meet the needs of consumers quickly and effectively.

Besides, PEA has undertaken major projects which include:

- Development of Smart Grid network in Pattaya City, Chon Buri Province

- Expansion of electricity supply areas to cover new households

- Arrangement of communication wires clinging to PEA electricity poles in 2016

- Development of electricity supply system to support the establishment of Special Economic Development Zones

- Good governance operation to become a role model of authority with transparency with intention to extend the virtue to all operations and offices across the country

- Development of renewable energy projects such as community hydropower

- Improving services to be accessible for public such as PEA Shops, Mobile Units, One Touch Service, and 1129 PEA Call Center. In addition, PEA has worked on the Civil State policy for society and environment by launching "Love Water, Build Weirs", and "Use of Electric safely" projects. The latter features the RCD Breaker campaign.
