Want a high-end Android business phone that's both sleek and powerful? Sony this month unveiled its second flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z3, a premium device with all the on-the-go features business users are looking for.

Design

The Xperia Z3 looks a lot like the Xperia Z2, but is thinner, lighter and brighter than its 6-month-old predecessor. Business users may find the Z3 easier to work with, however. Unlike the bulky Z2, this new version features a slimmer build with rounder edges, weighs 5.36 ounces and measures 5.75 by 2.83 by 0.28 (HWD) inches.

At first glance, the Z3 seems to keep the same 5.2-inch, 1080p display as the Z2, but don't be fooled. Sony says the X3 offers the brightest resolution among leading smartphones, clocking in at 600 nits, which is 50 percent brighter and offers a much improved under-the-sun readability than the Z2. Whether you're working indoors or outdoors, the Z3 won't hurt your eyes or your productivity.

Power and performance

The Xperia Z3 is all about high-end power and performance. In particular, business users will appreciate the Z3 for its battery-saving capabilities. First, the display is equipped with dedicated memory, meaning it will only refresh when necessary to preserve power. The device is also powered by the 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801, a best-in-class, lightning-fast processor that's also power-efficient to help extend battery life.

Altogether, the Z3's 3,100 mAh battery is estimated to last two days on a full charge, with an estimated talk time of 16 hours. If your battery does start to run low, the STAMINA feature can turn off background processes and unnecessary apps to lengthen the charge.

Other performance specs include a generous 3 GB of RAM, up to 32 GB of flash memory, a 128 GB microSD slot, and an ultra-fast third-generation combined 4G/LTE modem for high speed downloads and uploads. The Z3 is also waterproof and dustproof, offering durability and protection, wherever you go.

Camera

If you take many photos for your business, the Xperia Z3 has exactly what you need. Whether you're taking photos for your online store, social media posts, or field shots for clients and colleagues, the Z3's 20.7 megapixel camera with a 25mm wide-angle G-lens will make you look like a pro in no time.

Sony boasts that the Z3 features Cyber-shot and Handycam technologies, such as better low-light performance and 12,800 ISO. It also offers Ultra HD video recording and combines a new "Intelligent Active Mode" with its existing Steadyshot technology to deliver improved digital stabilization. You can create your own films with Movie Creator, project multimedia on a 4K television, or go live with automatic live-to-YouTube streaming.

Cost and availability

The Sony Xperia Z3 is expected to cost around $650 and will launch on T-Mobile this fall. It will come in four colors: white, black, silver green and copper.
